Typewritten letter sent by the Imperial War Graves Commission to Miss M. Davidson of 37 Canterbury Street, South Shields, dated 25 March 1958. The letter is in reply to Miss Davidson's letter of 21 March. It is stated (inaccurately) that Lance Corporal James Davidson is commemorated on the Dunkirk Memorial. The author goes on to say that photographs of the Memorial and name panels can be obtained from the British Legion in London. The letter is associated with Lance Corporal James Davidson of South Shields, brother of the letter's recipient, whose name is in fact included on the Rangoon Memorial.

About the Project
This site gives you access to a huge number of objects from Tyne & Wear Archives & Museums’ collections.
It has been designed to help you easily discover intriguing material. Objects are presented based on how you use the site. The more you explore certain artefacts, the more related the content will be. The faster you scroll, the more random the results.
This website has been designed in partnership between Tyne & Wear Museums & Archives, Newcastle University and Microsoft Research. The project has been supported by the Digital R&D Fund for the Arts (Nesta), the Arts & Humanities Research Council and the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
